International Women’s Day is observed globally on 8th March 2016. Unlike others, the RENEW volunteers and the health staffs of Nganglam jointly celebrated the day with the theme “Planet 50 – 50 by 2030: Step it up for gender equality”. As to sensitise on the importance of the day, the schools under Pemagatshel talked about the day during morning assembly and read out Her Majesty Gyalyum Sangay Choden Wangchuck’s address to the nation. The big event that we have initiated was testing BMI and checking BP for all the people in and around Nganglam. The program began with the introduction of the volunteers and welcoming of new Doctor of Nganglam by the CBSS coordinator. The coordinator shared the message of Her Majesty Gyalyum Sangay Choden Wangchuck’s address to the nation of the day to the clients. To mark the day a total of 171 people turned up for BMI check up and necessary advice and feedback were given to the volunteers.
