International Women’s Day is observed globally on every 8th March. This year we have observed the day jointly with UNESCO club of Nganglam Central School (Lower Campus). The day began with the reading of press release of IWD by the UNESCO club members. The speakers (English and Dzongkha) were both male as to respect and to show gratitude to all the women across the globe. Subsequently, CBSS coordinator gave a talk on the importance of the day and highlighted on the theme “Women in the changing World of work: Planet 50-50 by 2030″.
The lady teachers and the school lady councillors were then offered with special badges by the male teachers as to mark the day. Tea and momos were served as a token of gratitude for their services to the country, men and the children. We thanked every lady teacher and women across the globe for their immense contributions made at home, offices and as leaders in the society.
The day ended in the evening by screening the film “Thimphu” for the teachers and students at both the campuses of Nganglam Central School, Multi-purpose hall.
