Norbugang Gewog is located in the southern part of the Dzongkhag under Nganglam Drungkhag with a total area of approximately 181.7 Sq km. It is the largest gewog in the Dzongkhag sharing borders with Dechenling and Norbugang gewogs. The gewog consists of 5 chiwogs namely Norbugang-Rinchenzor, Nyingshingborang, Tshaelshingzor, Gashari and Maenchhu-Nganglam with 8 villages. The Gewog is connected by 25 km of farm road from the Drungkhag. It has a population of about 3237 with 365 households. There are 10 staff which includes Gup, Mangmi, GAO, Geydrung, caretaker and 5 Tshogpas along with 3 RNR extension officials. The Drungkhag headquarter and major industrial establishment like Dungsam Cement Corporation Limited and Druk Polymers are located under Norbugang gewog. .
Kamzhing and tseri are the major landholdings. The type of soil is sandy and clayey loamy. Maize is the staple diet. Paddy, millet, and buckwheat are also grown. Orange is the main cash crop. Other cash crops like pineapple, guava, jack fruit, mango and ginger are also grown. Paddy cultivation is limited mainly due to the lack of water for irrigation.
The gewog has all the basic infrastructures to provide basic services to the public. There are one RNR center, one community information center, one grade I BHU, one grade II BHU, one higher secondary school, one lower secondary school and two primary schools. There are 8 community and private lhakhangs with 54 chortens.
