ESTABLISHMENT OF THE COURT

The Pemagatshel Dzongkhag Court was established in 1974. Dasho Dorji was the first presiding Drangpon (Judge) of this Court. This Dzongkhag Court is made up of one Bench which is presided over by a Drangpon. The Drangpon is assisted by a Drangpon Rabjam (Assistant Judge).

COURT HOUSE

This Dzongkhag Court lacks separate and independent Court building. The office of the District Court is housed inside the Dzong.

REGISTRY OF THE COURT

The Registrar heads the registry of the Court. The Registry is the first contact point. Any complaint can be filed in the Registry of the Court. The complaints must be filed with the registry between 9:30 am to 10:30 am.

ADMINISTRATION OF COURT

While both Drangpon and Drangpon Rabjam deal with the administration of justice, the Drangpon Rabjam heads the administrative division of the Court. He is supported by the Accountant. But Drangpon is the head of Finance. The appointment and transfer of the staff is done by the High Court.

NUMBER OF EXISTING STAFF

At present, there are thirteen staffs including the Honourable Drangpon and Drangpon Rabjam.

CASE BALANCE AS ON 31-08-2009

There are only 34 cases pending as on 31st August 2009. There are no cases pending beyond 12 months.
