Dzongkhag Administration officially launched the Planning and Economic Development Sector in a ceremonial program attended by members from the Dratshang and all sectors, marking a significant milestone in strengthening strategic planning and development coordination within the Dzongkhag.
The erstwhile PPD, Economic Development and Marketing, Dzongkhag Tshogdu Secretariat, Statistical unit and Plan Monitoring and Evaluation sectors are all merged into this sector.
The revamped and amalgamated mandates of the newly created sector include, but not limited to:
1. aligning Dzongkhag’s development programs and activities with national goals and aspirations
2. coordinating multi-sectoral efforts in promoting accelerated economic development
3. ensuring evidence-based planning and decision making leading to transformative change
4. enhancing service delivery
5. strategic and judicious use and allocation of resources
6. strengthening local governments,DT and GT, and enhancing capacities of LG functionaries
7. promoting holistic and collaborative approach toward realization of the Dzongkhag’s overarching goals of economic prosperity, social cohesion and efficient services
8. Liaisoning and coordination with economic cluster ministries and development partners
This is part of the transformation initiated by Royal Civil Service Commission, Royal Government of Bhutan toward standardization and deep-skilling of civil service officials.
