Dechhenling gewog is located in the southern part of the Dzongkhag under Nganglam Drungkhag with area coverage of approximately 137.03 square kilometers. The gewog consist of 6 chiwogs namely Bidungri-Yangmalashing, Dechhenling- Martshalla, Goishing-Rezemo, Namdaling, Dungphu-Shingchongri and Kholomri-Dungchelo with a total 15 villages.
It has a population of about 4226 consisting of 315 households. The climate varies from sub-tropical to cool temperate. The altitude ranges from 500 to 1600 metres above the sea level. The type of soil is sandy and clayey loam which is favourable for agricultural and horticultural development. Kamzhing and tseri are the major landholdings. Maize millet, buckwheat and mustard are widely grown. Paddy, though grown, is not very popular because of the lack of water for irrigation. Orange is grown as the the main cash crop. It has potential for other cash crops like guava, peach, plum, pear, mango, and banana.
The gewog center is connected by 20 Km of farmroad from the Drungkhag. The gewog administration is staffed by a Gup, Mangmi, GAO, Geydrung, caretaker and 5 Tshogpas. It has a gewog office, one RNR center, one BHU, One Lower Secondary School, One Primary School, three ORCs and 14 community Lhakhangs with 5 chortens.
