In commemoration of World Environment Day 2025, and in alignment with this year’s theme, “Combating Plastic Pollution,” the Dzongkhag Administration organized a large-scale river-wide cleaning campaign to promote environmental responsibility and raise awareness about the dangers of plastic waste in natural ecosystems.
The campaign witnessed enthusiastic participation from civil and corporate service employees, RBP, judiciary, business communities and DeSuups united by a shared commitment to protect and restore the ecological health of the dzongkhag’s river systems.
Activities undertakencoordinated collection and safe disposal of plastic waste, removal of debris from riverbanks and in the rivers. Several kilometers of river stretch were cleaned, visibly reducing plastic pollution and improving the health of local water bodies. The campaign served not only as a cleanup drive but also as a strong message underscoring the vital role each individual play in preserving the environment.
