Nanong Gewog is located in the North eastern part of the Dzongkhag with a total area covering approximately of 81.7 Sq Km. It shares borders with Shumar and Zobel gewogs, Lumang, Thrimshing, and Udzorong gewogs under Trashigang Dzongkhag. The Gewog consist of 5 chiwogs namely Terphug-Woongchhiloo, Gashigkhar-Tshatshi, Raling and Tokari with a total of 32 villages. It has a population of about 4750 with 326 total households. The Gewog is connected by 37 kms of farm road from Kheri Gonpa.
The patterns of settlements in the gewog are mainly dominated by cluster settlements. The main farm produces are oranges, potato, ginger, sugarcane and maize. Maize is the major cereal crop, while potato, orange, ginger, groundnuts and sugarcane are grown as cash crops. Tshatshi village is the most potential village for producing orange. The gewog is well known for producing “Tshatsi Buram”- a locally prepared product from the juice of sugarcane and other ingredients. The livestock product mainly consists of egg, cheese and butter.
There are 10 staff in the Gewog administration which includes a Gup, Mangmi, GAO, Geydrung, caretaker and 5 Tshogpas. The gewog has one RNR center, two BHUs, one upcoming MSS, three primary schools, one community information center which gives basic services to the public. There are 11 community and private Lhakhangs with 99 numbers of chortens.
